ReplyDeleteI hope you all watched each other's videos, because some of them are awesome (isaac's first one is very educational, though I wouldn't watch the full half hour of his second one).
Now for some new stuff: this is probably the first place ill be telling people if I'll be back to camp next year, so be sure to check back here at least in late spring if you're curious. I might know even by early spring so feel free to send me a harassing email at matt summers 123 @ gmail . com (no spaces).
Also, I'm planning on doing a good amount of whitewater this year so ill be posting updates on where I've been, what I learned, and hopefully posting pictures. I might even go whitewater canoeing with Eric Martin since he lives near me in Maine). If any of you get the chance to do any variety of kayaking at all (I know quin might be doing some river running in California over the winter) please tell the group about it.
BACK DECK ROLLS You guys will love this video. I'm still not positive how to do it, and it might be really hard with feathered paddles (Ryan do you remember what feathered means yet?). Here's a how-to on back decks.

PPS I'm going to add some of the older river runners to the group now, so don't be shocked if you see some unfamiliar faces. Danny, Peter and I have probably talked about these guys enough that they sound familiar to you anyway.
PPPS would you guys like me to copy&paste what I put about new boats to that camp should buy in my activity report? It could be a good guide for you guys who are thinking about getting your own kayaks.
Yeah I know! Beck Deck Roll are totally different from what you guys did. You switch sides then do it. Also, you use the paddle to push of in the water, so it is easier if you have a non-feathered paddle to get two times the force.
